15 m pitbull loves it she likes the squeaky sound and tossing it up, seems durable so far but we haven't allowed her to play with it for too long because she is a power chewer
UPDATE 3/13/16: We're in 3 different pieces now. The rope "handle" end, the ball, and the rope "sack" that covers the ball. He loves all 3 pieces individually...so I guess we're still ok on that front. The ball no longer squeaks cause he pierced it with his teeth. I'm not going to dock a star though simply because this is his most favorite toy ever, and I rank his joy pretty highly. I'm probably going to buy another actually, but I'm going to wait a while until his teeth are done growing. Just …remember that my dog sits down with the intention to pull apart many of his toys...and when you're mere threads and fabric, it's hard to argue with 80 pounds of teething discomfort and pure might..My dog loves toys that he can (in no certain order) 1. tear out the stuffing 2. squeak 3. throw around and up in the air 4. play tug with. Because this has no stuffing, has a squeaker, it's perfect for throwing due to being able to grab the rope and use the ball's momentum, AND it's made with rope so it's good for tug, I thought this might be perfect for him. I was so close to right on.Firstly, he LOVES this thing. I was totally right about throwing it. He loves taking his toys, shaking them about and then flinging his head around to let them go at random and have them fly (and sometimes he'll even catch them!). He'll grab the rope and use the ball for throwing momentum, like I thought he would, and he loves the action this creates. The ball is large and it squeaks! A note about the size of the ball though. He is currently an 8 month old Doberman and he's already got a very large mouth (plus he's still teething..but has his adult teeth). The ball isn't so big that it's uncomfortable for him to hold or difficult for him to grab, but it's not easy as pie either, he's really got to get his mouth open to grab the whole thing (he doesn't mind this at all). It does squeak but it's not like most squeaky toys in that the squeaker is soft, squishy, and easy to squeak. The ball itself is a bit hard and it takes some effort to get it to squeak. He also doesn't mind much that he can't sit and squeak it over and over, since it happens only every now and again, it's like a pleasant surprise for him.Now the reason for 4 stars. It took him a couple minutes after he sat down with the intention to figure out how all the pieces come together, but he did manage to pull out some of the rope that holds the ball in. Upon inspection, it appears that he just pulled out the last bits of rope that were tucked in last and so far he hasn't managed any further damage. Perhaps I had my hopes too high since it's a rope toy and he hasn't yet destroyed any other rope toys? With the destruction started, I expect the toy to not last much longer in one piece. Playing tug however, has had no ill effects on the toy and it's perfectly capable of handling some medium-intensity tug (from a doberman!).Despite the ease with which he started taking it apart, I absolutely recommend this due to the sheer joy my pup experiences while playing with this. If your dog is less prone to figuring out the innards of toys, this will be an excellent fit. Please note that I do not consider this a 'cheap' or 'poorly made' toy, my dog is pretty insistent on getting things apart but he doesn't classify as full on destroyer/shredder/etc, I just think this toy could have been made a bit better to withstand the abuse that dogs can dish out.I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion. I must say, this was a fun toy for my dog to throw and just play with. But disappointed because she already had some rope chewed within an hour of opening. Just wish it would have lasted longer than an hour with my 8 mo. goldendor
